Today in ruins, Château-Gaillard is located in the heart of Vexin Normand, in the commune of Andelys.
It was built on a limestone cliff overlooking a large meander of the Seine to protect the duchy and Rouen, its capital.If time permits, return to stroll along the Seine and enjoy peaceful moments, punctuated by the passage of barges and cruise ships.

Follow its course as far as the Pont de Brotonne and discover the abbeys that line its banks, such as Jumièges and Saint-Georges de Boscherville.
You can take a look at its famous “fruit route”, which winds its way through the orchards of the medieval village of La Bouille, and admire the city of Rouen in the distance from the left bank.
